At VitaMe, we’re excited to help our customers achieve their goals and follow their dreams. And we meet a lot of interesting people among our customers! Today, we’re pleased to introduce you to one of them: Barbara.
A 53-year-old executive assistant living in San Francisco, Barbara is an inspiration for us. After losing her long-time canine companion to cancer nearly two years ago, she started seeking new sources of joy in her life. One of the biggest ones? Elephants.
“I heard a lecture given by Dr. Iain Douglas-Hamilton, a pre-eminent expert on elephants and the founder of Save the Elephants based in Nairobi, Kenya,” she recalls. “At that lecture, I first heard the chilling news that elephant poaching was on the rise and that at the rate it was escalating, elephants could be extinct within a decade. Since then, not a single day goes by that they are not on my mind.
She immediately started contacting organizations and individuals and getting involved in efforts to help save elephants. Last summer, she followed her new-found passion all the way to South Africa, where she spent a few weeks supporting conservation efforts as a member of a research team. And that’s just in her spare time!
By day, Barbara is an executive assistant at a candy company. “I literally have candy at my fingertips every single day,” she told us. “I have gained weight in the two years I’ve been there and I’m not happy about it.”
Now, she’s ready to get healthy, and so we’ve invited her to share her story and her experience as part of a 90-day VitaMe Challenge. For the next 3 months, we’ve asked to to take her personalized VitaMe pack every day and keep on track with her other fitness goals — quitting sugar and starting up her yoga practice again — to lose weight and boost her energy.
“I am generally feast or famine with regard to taking supplements,” she confessed. “I go on binges where I’m taking entire handfuls, and then none at all. So I’m interested to see how I perform on this 90-day experiment where I am committed to monitoring how I feel and actively looking for and (hopefully) noticing improvements!
